I have transcribed and arranged the setting of the Quoniam tu solus sanctus from Rossini's Messa di Gloria. The opening thirty-five bars contain the composer's original clarinet obbligato, followed by the literal transcription of the bass's solo vocal line, adjusted to the tessitura of the clarinet. The result is typical of Rossini in every way, from the ornate original clarinet solo to the distinctive melodic content.
